Sometimes simple stories can really make an impact on us. A while back a friend shared the true story of Dr. Alexander Papaderos, who grew up in Crete during World War II. As a young boy, he found a broken mirror from a German military motorcycle. He smoothed one piece on a stone and discovered he could use it to reflect sunlight into places where the sun couldn’t reach. As he grew older, that little mirror became a reminder of how each of us can choose to bring light into dark places.
That story became the inspiration for Reflect. I loved the idea that we don’t have to be extraordinary to make a difference. We may not be the source of the light, but we can choose to reflect God’s love, hope, and light in the way we treat the people around us.
Writing this song with Zelda Nera and Donita Dawn Heringer was such a blessing, and I’m so grateful for Zelda’s beautiful vocals and Becky Willard’s production. They helped bring this simple message to life in a way I hope feels both peaceful and encouraging.
I know there are days when it’s easy to wonder if the little things we do really matter. A kind word, a listening ear, or a small act of service may seem insignificant, but those moments often become the light someone else needs. I hope Reflect can be a reminder that God can use ordinary people to brighten someone’s day.
Thank you for listening and for supporting my music. I hope this song brings a little more hope, peace, and light into your life, and maybe inspires you to share that light with someone else.

Reflect
By Suzanne Hodson, Donita Dawn Heringer, & Zelda Nera
VERSE 1:
A boy found a small piece of mirror
And smoothed it off on a stone
He liked how the sun reflected off of it
And chased away shadows til they were gone
VERSE 2:
He played with his treasure for years
And learned this one thing over time
That just like the mirror reflected light to dark
The boy knew that he could choose to shine
PRE:
Bringing truth to every corner
CHORUS:
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s light
VERSE 3:
As time trickled by he shared his story
Passing out mirrors with love
Encouraging others, to spread a little joy
To bring warmth and cheer, bright as the sun
CHORUS:
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s light
BRIDGE:
Once he lived with light
He never wanted to go back to
Any other life
CHORUS:
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s
Love, hope, light
Reflect God’s light
BRIDGE:
Once he lived with light
Never wanted to go back to
Any other life, ahhhhh
END:
A boy found a small piece of mirror
