This song was inspired by a milestone that feels hard to believe. This year marks 45 years since I met my husband and nearly 42 years of marriage. When we first met, I never could have imagined all the experiences we would share together. Over the years, we’ve celebrated happy occasions, raised a family, faced challenges, learned from mistakes, and created countless memories. Through all the ups and downs we have stayed committed to each other.
As I look back, I recognize that our love has been built through patience, forgiveness, friendship, and choosing each other again and again. Those ideas became the foundation for this song.
One of my favorite lines is:
“Live in the present, learn from the past, create our future with love that lasts.”
I think there is wisdom in remembering where we’ve been, appreciating where we are today, and continuing to move forward together.
I’m so grateful for Terry, for our family, and for the many experiences we’ve shared. I’m also grateful for everyone who has encouraged my music over the years.
I hope Meant to be Together brings you good memories, hope, and an appreciation for those who have influenced your life.

Meant to be Together
By Suzanne Hodson
VERSE 1
Saw you in the halls of school
Handsome friend of a guy I knew
Looking through my yearbook pages
Your eyes said, “I’m the one for you”
When we arranged to meet
I was hopeful and nervous too
There was such a strong connection
I knew my heart belonged to you
CHORUS
We were meant to be together
From before this life began
Can’t imagine life without you
Your heart and mine go hand in hand
VERSE 2
Dating, work, and school were busy
Our wedding and family came so fast
Lots of ups and downs in marriage
Forgiveness and patience help love last
Our kids grew up and now have families
We’ve learned life’s challenges don’t end
But we’ll get through all things together
You are forever my best friend
BRIDGE
Live in the present, learn from the past
Create our future with love that lasts
